Since Pilates started in the 1920s millions of people have not just enjoyed it but also benefited from the many things it offers.
There are different ways to do Pilates and different pieces equipment that can be used but as a Personal Trainer I tend to take a whole body approach to Pilates and use a variety of equipment.
I focus on improving posture and take a whole body approach to teaching Pilates.
This includes working on balance, increased lower back stability and improved upper body posture.
I take a functional approach to Pilates, although Pilates itself takes a whole body approach I focus on the changing world since Pilates was created. People are less active now and have more sedentary lifestyles so any exercise we do must be based around these facts.
Although I teach mat based Pilates I believe the more stimuli we can bring into the environment the more benefits we can get out of our environment. I use fitballs, small Pilates balls, yoga blocks, weights and resistance bands and I teach One-One, group sessions and classes.
